Although I'm a fisherman at heart, my wife and kids have become addicted to being pulled around behind our Whaler... on tubes, skis and kneeboards. They want a ski pylon instead of using the current harness that attaches to a pair of eyes on the transom. Does anybody know if somebody makes a ski pylon for a Whaler 15? Does anybody have one on their boat? Mounting suggestions? Any help will be immensely appreciated! Eric Gainesville, FL

Boston Whaler has offered elevated ski pylons for the 17' Bass Boats & Newports, but not for the 15's. I KNOW that they are not approved for the 13's, because of fear of flipping the boat or causing unstability & loss of control. This could also be the case with the 15. Those elevated pylons, high enough to get the rope over the engine, can exert a lot of rotational force on the boat, and the hull needs to be large enough to resist this overturning moment. I'd stay with what you are currently using. |

Fair enough. Better safe than sorry. Now I have my first reason to consider a future upgrade to a larger Whaler. Just don't tell my wife! :-) Eric |

Larry, are you acctually posting all of these "Preserving the Topic" posts? You have really never done this before and are doing it alot now? Something tells me we have a hacker on the site! There is a post by suposedly by me on a White Rubrail subject, that I don`t think I posted! Then someone sent e-mails out about a Whaler for sale to alot of members e-mails? Something seams fishy here? Regards-Jack Graner. |

The guy that was still interested in the thoughts and topic was me... I actually appreciated lhg for posting the comment that others might be interested, after he posted his comment against using a pylon. :) I still think a pylon in a 15' would be OK if it was only slightly taller than the engine. A Tower, would be too much... :) Note that a Ski Nautique isn't all that much wider than most BW models 15-21', but it does have much more mass with a 351cid/454cid in the bilge. "Where2"? |

Eric:I purchased a brand new 15 back in 1986 and If memory serves me well I remember that the Whaler manual stated that ski pylons were not recommended for the 15. Fred
