The rear bench seat in my 84 Outrage has had it! I believe it was reupholstered by the original owner because it is not the pleated vinyl. The plywood structure has serious dry rot and cannot be salvaged. I've been toying with the idea of building a custom slated mahogany bench seat (a la Nauset, Sakonnet)sized for standard boat cushions to permanently eliminate the potential for the same problem recurring. On the other hand, I've been toying all winter and now spring is here - does anyone know if a replacement for the orignal seat is available? Anyone had similar experience, suggestions? The boat is kept covered most of the time. No Larry, I'm not ready to reconfigure the whole ass end of the boat like yours, not yet anyway!!

Tom: How are things? Long time no hear from. I believe your only chance of finding one of those seats is Dave's Custom Upholstery, down in FL. (See the OEM Section) They are now making all of Whalers Classic upholstered items, and they may also have the specs for that seat. May cost $300-$500. If you are successful, let us know, as I'm sure others are looking for these also. |
