The combination of my weight and the weight of the motor make my 18' boat a little heavy in the rear. I figure I have three possible solutions. 1. Loose weight, 2. Add trim tabs, 3. Install Hydrofoil type device on outboard. I am working on number 1 but it is going to take a while. Number 2 is not in the immediate budget, so for now I will have to try number 3. Does any one have experience with the different models out there? Which if any do you think will help my situation.

Joe, I recently installed a Doel-Fin (most boat shops) on my 17' Outrage. All the difference in the world. Out of the hole quicker, really almost no hole to shoot from, easier to plane, easier to trim, lower rpm at slower speeds. Feels like hydro power steering just as they advertise it. I'm very pleased. Joe, I agree with Roy, I have 5 whalers and have "Doel Fins" on all.. mainly so that I can maintain plane at slower speed.... Happy Whalin'.... Clark |

I have a doelfin on a `17 Currituck with an 85h.p. Johnson and it really gets up fast on plane and goes fast and track straight as an arrow and handles extremely well. Regards-JACK. |
