What type of cable should I use to replace the old worn cable on my 1970(originally thought it was a '71) 13' Sport?

My experience with steering cables is you almost need to find the number on the existing cable to have a new one ready when you pull the old one. The number should be near either end. There are a lot of different helms, ends etc. If you find the number I probably have a new one for you. I bought about 50 steering cable from a BW dealer that went out of business and have only sold a few. Let me know. Scott Blunk...bigoak@compuserve.com

Fred,
check the number on the cable or have a marine mech look at your cable. I just had a similar problem with my throttle stick, and re-installed the new cable after the mech identified the cable type. Hope this helps.
