I left my Montauk 17 in a slip in San Francisco bay for about a month without bottom paint. needless to say, I now have a nice coating of algae etc. I am thinking about using a pressure washer to clean the hull. Will a pressure washer damage the gel coat? any advice on cleaning the hull will be appreciated.

I have used Zing or the "Works" toilet bowl cleaner for cleaning the bottom. If that doesn`t cut it try muratic acid cut with some water. This task should be done with the boat off the trailer as the finish of the trailer will be affected. A soft toilet bowl brush works well for an applicator. Rubber gloves & safety glasses are also suggested.

JT -

A power washer, within reason (the quarter car wash type and smaller home units) will be no problem.
