Went out this morning and,on the advice of a friend, tried "Bar Keeper's Friend" on the SS rails of my Montauk. Wow! It works great to remove those brown stains that form on my rails. I don't know what causes the stains, they don't pit like rust, but look like an early rust formation. Anyway, I've tried lots of products to remove them, including Flitz and Simichrome, but all have been pretty labor intensive. Til now! The "Friend" removed everything and the rails look like new. Required very little effort. Anyone else out there using this product?
It seems to take EVERYTHING off the metal, so I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion for protection afterwards----some sort of wax maybe? Thanks.

BarKeepersFriend is the only product I've ever used on my stainless, compounder. Be sure that you let it form into a paste on your wet rag before cleaning; to avoid any abrasive scratching.
I don't followup with any wax, just break out
your 'Friend' @ 2X a yr.

David in Boston,
I got mine in the detergent section of the local supermarket. It should be with the other cleansers such as Comet, Bon Ami, etc.

This past summer I wanted to do a good cleaning on the ss rails of my boat. I had talked to several people on what to use and found that alot of people use BKs Friend. I found it works great! I use it on alot of different things. Done a great job on the rails.
just my 2 cents
