I have recently completed the restoration of a 1965 13', Hull # 16334.
I am replacing the existing outboard with a new 2001 Johnson 30. I have also located some brand new 40th anniversary steering consoles, and have bought one to install. I need to install a teleflex steering setup and the problem is that the curved and notched transom causes an interference problem on the port side. If I can position another steering tube 2-3" forward of the motor, I should be OK. Are there any over-the-counter solutions or adapters out there, before I go machining a custom part? (I don't want to use one of those bolt-on transom brackets and bore holes in my boat).

I have a 1969 13' sport which I just had the
same identical motor put on. OMC has a steering adapter (part no. 168-OSM3785) which I used to get the proper offset.
