I have a several part question:
On my five year old Dauntless 17 I have spider cracks that are getting larger around one of the engine well drain tubes on the outside of the transom. There are now six cracks about 5 inches long. I was maybe going to try to repair myself. I've used spectrum gel to touch up nicks but I may farm this out to get a professional look. I read the west book and they state that this type of crack is stress induced and that it will keep coming back if underlying problem isn't repaired.....I have a 10 year hull warranty...I know warranty doesn't cover spider cracks after the 1st year but will it take more than grinding and filling to repair properly? Any thoughts? Also, I was looking at my drain tube and other through hull fittings, which are plastic, and noticed the sealer around them is looking a little old and cracked. I was at west today and looked at boat life but it stated "not for use on plastic" I have read that 5200 is very permanent, what would be a good sealer to put a new ring around the through hull fittings. Thank, Mark
