I know that there are plenty posts back-way
backin thisforum, but I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for removing the oxidation and restoring the luster of my 87 outrage's gelcoat? Thanks. I hope I can get as good a shine as David Reid's 18' I doubt it! Looks great!

George: I just did the same for the blue interior of my old Nauset and I cannot believe how good it looks. I used a medium cutting compound (from West Marine). Someone in a previous thread mentioned they used the 3M Imperial Microfinishing compound with good results.

After, I went back and waxed with a high quality wax containing carnauba. The shade of blue is much darker now and the sheen is brilliant. I wished I had done it years ago. Also am planning to do the outside of the hull.

Good luck,

See lhg's recent post. Larry's experience goes well beyond mine. Further, he includes much more detailed information on appropriate care and product choice.
