Need to know how to convert steering to the Teleflex SafeT-II.How long should cable be. I measured 9 ft. What modifications need to be done to the console? Will the wires to the bow lights pull out to be replaced or do i need to go to another option?

Just finished converting a '66 Sport as you want to do. The first decision you need to make is which transome clamp block to use to put the cable in a position to clear the swing of the motor because of the curve of the transome. The tilt tube on most all motors cannot be used because of the curveature. I used the standard clamp block from teleflex with the Safe=t QC System SS137. The length of the cable was 8' and still required moving the console forward 2". The component that fits under the console also required some removal of stock from the left inside of the console for a good fit. There is not much flex to the cable. If you check out the clamp block made by a dealer in Fla as suggested by peole in previous posts you may be able to avoid these adjustments. Good luck. PS I found the best prices at Surplusunlimited.com.
