I am about to purchase a 13' Whaler at a great price that needs some restoration. I am very excited about this project and if the answers to these questions are already located somewhere, please point me in that direction. Here goes. The interior of the boat is painted blue, but so is the exterior! Is there a safe way to remove all of this paint so the hull is once again white? Heat gun perhaps? Chemicals? The hull also needs some minor repairs and then I was thinking of regelcoating it, are there directions somewhere on what products to use and how to go about this? I was thinking of paint removal, wet sanding and then spraying gel coat. Is this a doable process? This is a wonderful web page and I am glad to be a newcomer to the Whaler family.

Hi Jon, Welcome!!! I restored a 72 a few years ago (actually, you're never done restoring). My hull was fine, it was the wood I spent a year redoing. I guess all I can do is wish you luck and encourage you to search the site. Let me know if you need some help with the wood.
