Is it possible/practical to mount a trolling motor on a 2001 13 Sport? I really like to keep things simple but the advantages of an electric trolling motor seem to be HUGE.

The easiest installation seems to be on the Merc 40 -4 cycle but I don't know how that might affect normal performance or if it defeats the opportunity one has of raising the outboard.

I also am concerned about the power aspect. Can I run it off the standard battery? There is darn little spare room in a 13 Sport and I have a second gas tank installed.

I will be running it in a freshwater lake with plenty of weed growth if that is significant.

Thanks for the advice,

Look at you wood diagram that should have come with the boat. There is a large section of Whaleboard phenolic in the port side of the gunwale up in the bow. It is there specifically for a bow mounted trolling motor.
