Have completed refinish of wood, and am ready yot reinstall console. I removed steering cable from underside of wheel to get the console out and now I need to put it back in. i'm not sure if this is the "telex" system referred to so often in this forum. It is basically a flexible, toothed cable that coes around a gear? inside the steering box and then exits above the axis of that gear/housing into a flexible plastic tube which extends horizontally under the console's deck. Is there any particular trick I should know about before I try to put it back together? Thank you for the help. David Gamble

stick the cable in and spin the wheel until it is all the way in, then tighten the nut or clip, etc. The flexible plastic tube is to keep the cable clean, nothing more. Do NOT glop up the cable with grease, a skim coat is all or you can get grease lock and jam the cable. It IS as easy as it looks. Nick |
