I bought my 21' Walkaround with (worn) bottom paint already on it. Which bottom paint is appropriate for great lakes freshwater use? It will sit in the water this summer. Should I sand the old paint first?

Ledfoot,
We put DIVE 1 in during April and usually pull it in Nov/Dec. We repainted the bottom 2 years ago with Interlux Micron CSC extra. This is the third season for the paint and it is holding up and working well. We get a little slime in Aug/Sept. but it washes off easily with a sponge. The paint is a multi year ablative paint. I would not recommend any more than 4 coats of paint. It seems to get flakey after one year if too many coats are applied. As far as sanding, read the instructions on the new paint for compatibility and surface preperation.
