After looking for about a year for a 15 I finally found a near perfect match. I've spent a lot of time on my fathers sailboat on Cape cod but not much with whalers. I now they're the best that's why I own one now. I have a few questions. First the guy that sold me the boat had no idea what he really owned, and I found out after regestering it that his title was wrong. Now the model number is 5A0856. I was told the boat is a 1977 15' 4" sport. But others have told me that I have a 1976 15' 4" sport. Anyonw know the truth? Now I would like to put seat backs on and raise the console to give room for electronics, and put in a small storage locker like the s.s. has but was wondering if I should replace original or keep them there. (the rear seat is not the original). any advise?

look at the metal tag on the transom. Last 2 digits are the year. I like a storage locker under the front seat the best. That way you can access it while driving and not having to turn around.
