The re-gelcoating of my '67 Currituck continues. I ordered a replacement white rubrail from the Classic Whaler Owners' Assoc. The guy working on my boat suggested I might want something w/ more bounce to protect better. He thinks there might be something that will go over the existing white r.r. I was under the impression that there was a period when Whalers had just that-a black rubber rail placed over the older style L-shaped white-before they made the transition to the current black only r.r. I'd like to preserve my original looks, but additional protection would be nice on my soon to be like-new finish!! Any ideas on a rub rail that would go over the original-type? Or even a thicker white one? A black rail would sure make my boat look different, but I'm not completely ruling it out yet. Thanks for any input. I know this might be old hat. John B.
