In one spot on my floor on the Port side I notice when I step on an area @ 4" sq. It makes a popping sound like an adhesive sticky sound. It is on port side between side of boat and floor panel about three feet foward of transom. It is happening on the floor and not the side of the boat. How/ can it be repaired and what should I do?

Is it soft? If so you need to find out why. What year hull?

DDG, is your boat an 18 Outrage from the 80's? My boat is an 18OR and has the same "soft spot" you describe in the same place. Actually I have it on both the port and starboard sides. Several 18OR owners on this site have remarked having the same. Mine doesn't sound as severe, because I don't get the "sticky" sound you refer to, although I know exactly what you mean. Personally, the condition has never changed so I have not done the repairs. But, my understanding is that a simple pilot hole drilled into the deck, and an epoxy fill is used to laminate the deck back down to the foam. Obviously, this is intended for very small repairs, and assumes there is not a current condition allowing water to enter or some other compromise that would allow the affected area to continue to separate from the foam.

It is an 1984 22' outrage. It suprises me as it was a one owner boat and has not one spider crack or really any cosmetic or structural problem. I just noticed it. No it is not soft it feels normal.

It is not me who found it. A guy offered me alittle more than I just paid for her a couple of months ago and when he was on her he noticed it and said not to worry. He has 3 Whaler ORs and is pressing for this one. Now my dad wants a bigger boat.......He called Whaler cpd and inquired about a 25' Guardian and a 24' Justice. I really love this 22 I can't let her go.
