I have a 1971 Nauset, actually only the hull and rails are 1971 vintage everthing else is 98 or newer. New gelcoat, built the console and seat myself. Everything is great except for the steering. Turning to port at planing speed is a two hand operation, turning to starboard can be done with one finger. At rest it is a one finger operation in both directions.
The motor is a 1998 Johnson 90hp, the helm is a Teleflex Safe-T II NFB with 15 foot Teleflex Safe-T Quick System cable. Both helm and cable are new. The motor was two years old when I bought it but it had never been used (still in the box).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need to adjust the trim tab on the lower unit.

Thanks, I'll give the trim tab a try.
