I just did some bow repair work (filled then sanded some deep scratches). Is there a product out there that will allow me to cover the repair work so that it will blend into the original gel coat?

You can buy Whaler gelcoat in little cans that come with a tube of curing stuff. It's a little pricey (imagine that) but a perfect match, at least for the tan color. I don't know if they offer it in the earlier white.

You can get gel coat patch paste from any of a number of sources and in any color you want.

But be forewarned: matching color is harder than it sounds. Apart from the variety of gel coat colors Whaler used (some only slightly different) there is the bigger problem of all of our boats having slightly different hues of the same color.

Age and sunlight can alter the original color dramatically. In the past I have almost always resorted to modifying colors with small amounts of white or gray to get just the color I want.

I have even had to mix different colors for different parts of the same hull. I don't mean to scare you, it's really not that big a deal. You just need to be aware of this.

Two good sources of gel coat patch paste (or simply gel coat, for that matter) are:

Thanks to both of you for the help. I really appreciate it.
