New montauk came equipped with swim platform. Platform has a handrail on one side that screws into the transom with a #14 screw 1 1/2 long. The screw has pulled out.
I assume there is wood behind the screw. I thought about replacing the screw with a 5/16 lag bolt or maybe a thru-bolt. Or should I epoxy the hole and use the same screw ? Thanks for the help.

jim, ..i have one that's probably similiar. the top ones are bolted through the (wood) transom, 1/4" stainless..i check them for any looseness. the bottom ones are a special case in that there's nothing there.(look at triblet's recipe and other posts on the subject in order to really do it right).can't imagine it coming loose. good luck...lm
