It seems that there is alot of work being done on stern lights. I just took apart an old stern light assembly from a 17’Cohasset. The bottom standoff bracket came right off of the light pole, but the top bracket with the compression fitting was corroded on to the pole. I had to cut the pole off and chisel it out of the top bracket. Everything cleaned up fine and the knurled fitting on the top bracket is in very good shape. It seems that there should be some sort of gasket or “O” ring in the compression fitting. Can someone give me some information about this? My next question was going to be about where to find a replacement pole, it seems that this has been covered in some detail, thanks for all the info.

The plastic split ring that goes in the top light btacket is available through any Boston Whaler dealer. If they don't stock it all they have to do is call Boston Whaler and order it.

I just had a thought. Has anyone ever tried using an O-ring in place of the slip ring? Seems like if you found the right size it might work.
