I have a 1983 13' sport that I am converting into a super sport. I have all the wood lined up, but I have a problem with the plasic rear and underseat compartments. I e-mailed Chuck Bennet at Whaler and found out that the plastic material is called Kydex and that Whaler no longer supplied it. He told me to look for a local supplier that could cut and mold it for me. However, so far my search has turned up nothing. This material seems to be very popular as material for sheaths for knives. Does anyone know of a Kydex supplier or the OEM source?
Also, I got a quote from CMI marine for the SS super sport rails at the price of $636. do you think it would be possible for me to have a canvas shop to cut and bend the rails at a lower price? Thanks a lot.

May want to try contacting Kydex directly. Companies like this tend to be helpful in helping you find where to buy. Located in Aiken SC

I e-mailed Kydex and was told that they only distribute to certain suppliers and that I should check with whaler. I don't think that the lady who responded read my e-mail very well. So I just did complete circle and am back where I started. Does anyone have any other ideas?

A member of the forum lives in Aiken, Just can't put the name to the town right now. Which is one reason we need a members location map.
