Is it going to be difficult installing a new remote oil tank in my 18' OR? I wan't to put it in the console and run the line under the deck without removing the deck or any exist rigging. Any help here would be appreciated. thanks!

I'm not sure if it's a good idea, it's a pretty long run from the console. My tank is in a battery box in the motorwell. I'm definitely moving my batteries to the console, though.
As far as running cables, wires, etc, I have a 1/8 nylon cord which permanently resides in the tunnel, tied off at both ends with about 10' of extra length. It'll be hard snaking a cable through the first time, but not impossible. If you're moving the batteries as well, you may have to pull wires from the stern to the console anyway, so make sure you pull a small rope through at the same time and leave it permanently.

My oil tank and battery are under my console. No problems after 35 hours of use. I too leave a nylon cord tied off at each end of my tunnel. It has enough extra length that I can run one end to the other and tie the ends together when snaking new cables/hoses, etc. This way I always have a piece of twine in the tunnel. BTW, a tape measure works for passing the cord the first time.

The oil tank is in the Console on my 20 outrage. It came from the dealer that way. It can be a real bear to fill with oil, patience and calm seas help. My 18 had it like acseatsri describes but the over time the tank suffered damage from salt and sun. I would suggest the console and, no. rigging it will not be hard. Tape measure is a good Idea or buy a snake from your local plumbing supply store.

Put the tank in the console.

I originally had the tank exposed for my 60hp in the rear of my Sport 15. When I got my Montauk, the hose only allowed me to keep the tank in the stern.

After three years of being exposed to the sun, the top of the tank was starting to exhibit cracks.

When I got the new 90hp, I got a new tank and put it under the console. The old tank and the 60hp went back onto the Sport 15.

BTW, I use a 3 gallon tank, which makes refilling an infrequent event.
