I am installing a pair of hallogen docking lights on my montauk and the installation wiring diagram shows they need to be connected "to ground". there is a wire which runs to the back of the boat and is screwed to the motor-mount which grounds the Loran (which is never used any more since I use GPS). Should I use this wire to ground the lights, or can I simply attach the "ground" wires to the negative terminal of the battery. I don't have a lot of experience with the electrical system on boats and any help would be greatly appreciated- Thanks
