Hello all,

(I know that there are a ton of posts on rub rails but I think I read all of them and as far as I know my question has not yet been asked. I promise I looked for 30 min.)

I was surfing through today and noticed the beefy rub rail on the commercial line 19' Gaurdian:

I have an '85 Outrage 18 and would love to add such a rub rail. Both what seems to be a more substantial rub rail around the entire hull and the lower secondary rubrail on either side near the stern.

Could my local whaler dealer contact BARBOUR PLASTICS, INC and get info?

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

As far back as I can remember, Whaler always had the option on their boats of a "commercial duty" or "heavy duty" rubrail. It appeared in the options and accessories catalogs. You rarely saw it on Whalers back in the 80's but the new boats all have this all black rubrail. I'm not sure if it is the same as they use now, I don't think it is. You certainly could contact Barbour via email yourself (in spite of the discouragement to doing this in the reference section's rub rail article).

Check with your dealer. Boston Whaler accessory part number 500-05018 should be the rub rail kit you are looking for. My guess is about $450.00 through a Whaler dealer.

I installed a brbour plastics rub rail of the type you desribed on my 16-7 Whaler. got it from local whalere dealer who ordered it from whaler. Price was about $125. The outrage may take alonger rubrail than I Installed. I considered the price to be reasonable Price should not double for 18 foot outrage. Good luck. JIM

It gets real spendy when you step up to the CP rubrails. Dealer cost is $100.00 more for a CP Outrage rubrail than a standard Outrage rubrail, dealer cost for a Montauk rubrail is $100.00 less than a standard Outrage rubrail.
Using what I feel is a fair dealer markup, from my 2000 dealer price sheet, the prices would be.
9'/11'/13' kit $99.00
15'/17' kit $120.00
15'/17' CP kit $195.00
17'+ Outrage kit $295.00
17'+ Outrage CP kit $450.00

If you are going to call Barbour Plastics, have their model numbr, color, and length needed ready. Not that they are not nice people, but the don't have any information on what rubrail went on what BW model in what year.
