I am planning on installing a Simrad autopilot on my 83 Montauk. I have a 4 stroke Yammaha 100 and cable steering. Any info on autopilots?

ya I have a simrad autopilot on my montauk 17 one of the best things I ever did !!! do you have hydrauic steering? cost on hyd. steering about 700 bucks & simrad ap14h about 1000/1100 bucks. installation is a very easy!! I did it myself. O one more thing to save $ buy it out state, no sales tax. got mine from doc freeman's in seattle wa. if you do this? e/m me and I can give you some tips. kim. |

sorry didn't see the cable steering part. I don't think it is a good thing to have the wheel turning when on auto!!! I fished big boats with wheels that turn it's ok then but in a small space ??? kim |

How about the Ray Marine Sport Pilot? Looks relatively easy to install and will interface with NEMA 183 protocol. |

Thanks for the info. I did order the Simrad ut of Seattle. Will let you know how it Stacks up. I've had Benmars on 2 former boats. |
