I'm restoring/modifying a 13' whaler. Found a type of wood I've never heard of. Got from a reputable cabinet maker here in Savannah. Sapili wood. It is much better looking than mahogany. It's a little heavier I think and I got it a little cheaper. I stained the Sapili and a piece of mahogany and varnished 6 coats with Goldspar. The Sapili is hands down much nicer looking.
