Does anyone know if you can use artist oil based paints as a coloring agent with expoxy and gelcoat. I bought oil based paints that come in a tube which I thought would be better than water based.

I think I have this Desert Tan color down but I hesitate to start without asking. I even plan to mix it with Marine-Tex if it's compatable. Do I need a totally different agent to mix with these products? Thanks

The correct coloring agent only costs about $5 a tube. I wouldn't take a chance on anything that may not work correctly with those odds. Mav

I have used artist color pigments for acrylic paints with success to tint epoxy.

Gelcoat resins are pretty cheap. Why not mix a batch and try it on something beside the boat for a test? You should have an answer in a few day.
