Since I use my little BW mostly for fishing and I have a trolling motor on the bow, I'd like to add a front seat to fish from. I hope that some of you have done this and can give me some suggestions and advice.Do I place the seat on the front deck? Or mount it to the board covering the front storage compartment? Or even on the deck behind the front deck? ( This last place would call for some way to flatten the deck since this is an older early 60's model with a groove down the middle) Would it be better to mount a seat that stays in place permanently, or one that can be removed? I'm sure that many of you have solved this problem for yourself and I'd greatly appreciate it if you would help solve it for me. Thanks, Stan

Howdy, Reel Remarks.I don't have any more seat mounts, but someone will pop up with one. They were made by Pick Instrument Co. for BW's Bass Boat and Striper models. The base mounts to the vertical aft wall of the front locker. The seat pedestal is removable. Search past threads for front seats and you might find that Pick has at least one more. I think I am at least the third person who was told they got the "last" one. Good luck. Red sky at night. . . JB :) |

JB Cornwell - I've looked as well as I can through the old threads and can't find anything on the Pick seats. And searching for the Pick Insrument Company on Google comes up only with "instrument" companies. I'll appeciate any and all leads you can give me. Thanks, Stan |

I also have a mid-sixties BW 13. I built a plywood deck that fits the area in front of the front bench seat and behind the moulded front deck. The deck is the same height as the bench seats and rests on the same ledge on either side of the hull that the bench seats rest on. I attached several 2x4's across the deck on the under side for stiffeners. I covered the deck with marine carpet and attached a deck plate for a pole seat . The deck provides a roomy and stable fishing platform with storage space below. Since the deck fits snugly and is not attached to the hull, it is easy to remove. |

Sounds like a great custom touch, Snakedoc. I think I would have put a nonskid surface that doesn't hold water, slime, etc. on there, rather than carpetRed sky at night. . . JB :) |
