I'm planing to remodel my newport this winter. One thing I'll be doing is removing the top skin and rail. My question is, will the rail, once removed from the top of the deck, fit the hull or will I be in the market for a used montauk/supersport rail? I'd like to keep what I have, I like the lower height. If it means bending new verticle supports, I can do that but was wondering if anyone has tried it before? The hull is a 1989 and is in great shape and I'm really chomping at the bit to get going. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Dave, Once you remove the skin I think your bow rail will be pretty useless. The Montauk bow rail is not mounted to the the top of the gunnel as it only has foan underneath.
