The rubber seal around the engine cowling on my '84 Evinrude 90 HP has become brittle and is breaking off. I wonder if if anyone has experience in replacing the seal. It is stapled to the cowling. I can see myself removing the staples but don't believe that an ordinary staple gun would work in replacing the rubber seal. I'm afraid the cowling would split. My OMC dealer agreed and said that some folks use an adhesive to do the repair.

Has anyone had experience with such an adhesive.

Go to auto parts store and get "weatherstrip adhesive". Stuff is sick!
