OK all you experts out there.. Whats the best way for me to use my tiller 15" 30 HP Nissan on a new 13 whaler.. Don't want a console or controls. A jackplate may not allow me to use the tiller?? or Jackplate with an extension pole on the throttle might clear?

All help appreciated!

JC, use a set-back bracket (jack plate not necessary but will work) with min.4" to 5" set-back and a tiller extension (experiment with moving helm seat as far back as possible)... It will work fine and you will be able to run on-plane in about 10" of water. I have always used a "Doel-Fin" with this type set up and I think it holds water to prop, prevents cavitation/ventillation, improves handling and allows lower planning speeds. Go for it! Clark... PS> Make test runs to make sure the "tell-tale" cooling water stream is strong and steady

Thanks Clark,

I read up on your rigs and wondered if it would work for this application.
