1)Will an engine start if you reverse the + and - battery cables?I If not will it cause any damage, presuming its corrected immediately?
(2)What is the experience eith how along a new battery will hold a charge if it sits idle? I put a new battery in my boat a little over a month ago, Went out to crank it yesterday and the battery was down to the extent that I didn't even get a click. It's a deep cycle and marine starting battery Auto zone brand. In the past, I have left batteries idle for a much longer period of time with no such results.

Is my interpretation correct. If the boat is on the trailer in the garage should I remove the battery? Thanks for any info on this topic.
