This last weekend, I purchased a GALLON of West Marine paint remover thinking I would need that much to do the whole boat. If you look carefully at the nose, you can see where the previous owner used a sander to remove old paint... well, I put on a thick layer in the nose area and waited 30 minutes and scraped... nothing came off. Put on another thick layer, waited, scraped and just a little mildew came off. Did the previous owner (now deceased) use an epoxy paint that the remover won't touch? Should I move to a belt sander next?

I was watching Ship Shape this weekend and the guy was doing the same thing. He said you had to let that stuff sit overnight. After he did that he came back with a wide putty knife and scrapped it off. Still looked like a big job though.
