No leads, but need some help too.

Bow eye glass area is damaged on my '86 Newport. I believe I need to remove bow eye, reglass, and replace.

Anyone got any suggestions for repairing glass and thru hole tunnel for the eye?

I just had the bow eye off my '97ish Montauk
to re-seal it.

You can do it on the trailer. Just remove the
winch tower. Depending on your trailer, you
may need to put a support under the keel. I
just cranked up the third wheel on the trailer,
put a jackstand with a piece of scrap lumber
to pad the keel, and lowered the third wheel.
Then pulled off the winch tower and took it all

The tunnel is just a hole through the foam.
I swapped everything out with warm water to
get the salt off, duct taped a trouble light
to the top of the jack to keep things warm
and in about four hours it was bone dry. Then
reassemble with 4600 Quick Cure, wait a couple
days, and put the tower back on.

When you reassemble the bow eye, watch out
that the central threaded rod is in the two
"nuts" equally.

It was less work than I expected. A one beer

Reassemble things with SS bolts. This would be
a good time to replace the bow stop on the
winch tower since it will be all apart.

A good source for parts is Twin Cities Marine
Sue is the parts manager and she is very good. Twice I have gotten parts in less than a week.
