I'm trying to resurrect a 1975 Newport and discovered that the deck insert that runs around the gunwales is starting to delaminate underneath. The side pockets don't provide enough access for a repair, so I think I'll have to remove the entire insert, turn it over, repair the delamination, and reinstall it.
Has anyone done this who can give a few pointers or point to a previous discussion? I've looked through old posts but can't find anything on it.

Easy job but time consuming. Remove rubrail and all hardware that attaches the insert to the hull. Remove console and any other items that are attached to the insert. Unplug or cut wiring for running lights near each light and remove the lights. Drill out rivets that are under rubrail attaching liner to hull. Invite a few friends over to help lift the liner from the hull and flip upside down. Repair as needed. Reinstall in reverse order.

Use Stainless screws if you do not want to rivet. They make SS rivets too.
