Anyone know a place to buy and approx. cost of a new windshield for a 1975 Montauk 17? Getting excited about getting it into water for 1st time (bought it used a few months ago) but want to replace the parts that look the worst before dropping it in the slip.

If you do a search, you should be able to find a thread about it. I recall a while back there being one but I can't remember where. If I'm not mistaken, the cost was somewhere about $85.

Good luck...

I bought one from the dealer about a year ago. It was around $125-$150 as I recall.

Contact Sue (Parts Mngr.) at Twin Cities Marine in MN. They're on the Web, so phone number is easy. Best Whaler dealer I've dealt with. I bought a windshield last year for an '85 18OR. My console is the same as the Montauk from the same era. I'm not sure about the '75 though.

If just a bit foggy, use a clearcoat safe polish on it and see how she cleans up. If cracked or sandsparkled....replace.

If you have a Tap Plastics nearby they can make one for you. Just take the original in and have them match it. I had a custom one done for my custom center console on a 16' It is quite a bit taller than the montauk's and ran me $130.00, I would think yours would be around 100.00 I put the order in in the morning and they had it done for me the same afternoon.

Chris,

If you have the old windshield, go to Modern Plastics in Bridgeport and get a quote on a duplicate. Their prices are good.
