I did it! Bought a '89 Montauk today. There is a small amount of gelcoat damage along the keel and some chips in the gelcoat in a few places, a few on the hull and a few on the deck. Can someone point me to a good article on "gelcoat repair for dummies".

Start on the places that can't be seen when the boat is in the water. You'll get your technique mastered on those places.

When you have a better feel for the materials you are using, try repairs in a more visible area.

WEST System epoxy is great for patching up polyester resin laminates because it forms excellent secondary bonds.
