Just bought an older Whaler, not sure of year or model. It is 16.5'. I am looking for ideas mainly dealing with storage issues. It is kind of like a large side console which is damaged in front at storage area. I was going to cut this area out and put a cooler with a tie down kit and cushion there maybe 50 qt igloo. I believe this will leave me enough room for 3 life jackets(tightly). Underneath console is where 2 5 gal fuel tanks were kept. I was going to put one 13 gal tank there thinking a decent sized tackle box would squeeze in there. There are 2 cushioned swivel seats behind console. I'd like to leave them there but also feel a need for a 120 qt or so cooler for rockfish ??? Also need some way to store about 6 rods. Don't want to mount to side of console it is tight already but maybe able to mount on other side. How about trolling rodholders not sure if it is a good idea to drill them out on the gunnels. I was hoping to put in 4 of these. My only other choice is get those rail mount holders but they are quite expensive. To make things more complicated, I was given a Great Wite trolling motor that I would be bow mounted. I was going to build a platform out of marine plywood and put some of that outdoor carpet, a swivel seat and depth finder as well as 2 deep cycle batteries. Any ideas or thoughts?

After browsing thru photo gallery , I believe this boat to be a Katama model. Seems nobody has gunnel mounted rod holders. Thanks.
