I have a 72 13'that has several gel coat cracks on the stbd side concentrated in a 1 foot wide area near the driver. The cracks run vertical. I believe that it is from hard docking. How do I repair it? I know where to get the gel coat.

you can get the gel coat from they have the color you need. just take a dremel with a small tip shaped like a triangle and open up the cracks so that the new gel has edges to bond to. dig out nice gouges, dont be scared to go to deep. what i did was just apply the gelcoat paste with my finger filling in the "ditches" i made with the dremel, dont worry if you get the gel outside the ditch for you will be sanding this anyway. so fill in everything that you dug out. the ditches you make should be about the width of a butter knife. after the gelcoat cures sand the whole area with 220 grit to get the bulk and then move to wet 400 then 800 then you can use 3m super duty rubing compound with a high speed buffer then use 3m finesse it II. then you can wax. i did this to mine and you cant even tell there were cracks. its worth the work. the colormatch must be very good for best results. hope this helps.
