Does anyone have experience w/2 pedestal seats mounted where the original was? I'm going to look at a 1974 boat with this fairly recent owner modification, and have some concern about the installation and whether they'll hold up. Thanks.

This was discussed a few months ago. If memory serves, the concern was that the 1974 hull has the earlier (so called 16') wood locations, and that there is not a piece of plywood over the entire floor of the boat as there is with the 1979 and later hulls. If you look at the wood diagram http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/16-17/graphics/16Wood.jpeg you can see there are strips down the middle and under each end of the RPS/Console. But nothing over the whole floor.

So you have reason to be concerned about the seats staying in place. I think the conclusion in the previous thread (which I can't find) was that the seats should be attached to a piece of wood or metal or something to spread the pull out forces.

Many thanks, Taylor. Can anyone help me locate the thread he mentions?
