I am starting a slow rebuild on a Nauset I just got and I have no info on wiring . Does the wiring run in the hull or under the rub rall on a 68' 16' Nauset.Any info on this project will be welcomed. Thanks Troy

I believe the wireing is in the foam in the hull. If you are replacing the rubrail, you can re-run it under there. Are you useing the older white rubrail or the newer Black ir the Classic Whalers or the ones that the New Whealers use?? Jack.

I redid my 35 y.o. Nauset last winter and ran the wiring thru the two piece black rubrail down the port side and drilled thru the gunwale. I sealed around teh opening I drilled both at the bow and at the stern. I tied it into the existing terminal block at the port transom where the stern light was located, and then ran wires from it to the center console. The older wires in the foamed hull did not hold up on either of my two early whalers

More questions on the 68' rebuild. Does any one have a diagram of the orginal wood console. Good pictures will help, you know the old saying,"If I see it I can build it".

Thanks Troy

Dr T.: Any way I can get a set of those plans? I have a '68 also and would like to build an original console for it.

Thanks

Troys Toys,

I am just finishing a restoration of my 66 Nauset. I would definetly replace your rubrail with the new 3 piece style. You can get it from Twin Cities for about 85.00 plus shipping. You are going to have a very hard time getting 16/2 marine grade wire under your old rub rail. The newer style has a channel inside the black rubber piece that hides the wires perfectly.

The newer style rub rail offers much better protection and really makes the boat look nice. With all of the time and money that I have spent on my restoration project, this is one of the last things that I would skimp on!

My opinion, good luck however you decide to go.

Those plans ought to be posted on the website. Seems like a popular request.
