Okay. Situation: I have a foot controlled Minn Kota 40lb bow mount type trolling motor, 42” shaft. I have a Montauk with the bow rail. I know that by other post 42” shaft is borderline length. I am having a very, very hard time finding a way to mount the TM to the bow in a way where it (the cable) does not hit the rails when stowing or deploying. The wires coming from the motor are getting in the way. This motor is not new, and I am just trying to see if I can get it to work on my boat. Removing rails are not an option. Anyone out there with a foot remote trolling motor/cable and with bow rails. How did you do it? Also I know that it will be hanging over the side. I am thinking transom mount now. Thank you, Archie

I have a tiller handle bow mount on my Montauk and it works fine, just not quite as convenient as a foot control.
I didn't think about the fact that the control cable might get in the way when I bought mine, I just couldn't justify the extra cost.

I would like those pics too if you have a minute to send them to me. Thanks.
Is a 42 inch shaft sufficient on a 16'7" whaler? I am looking at the Minnkota Riptide 55 Bowmount with a 42 inch shaft. I am trying to avoid the 52 inch shaft model because of the extra $$ and because of the extra 10 inches that will be hanging in my boat!

I would love to see those pics as well. I also have a minkota 42" foot control unit to install.
