FYI, I repaired 1/4 inch hole I drilled in my transon (to let water out) with drywall anchor. Simply coated exterior with a thickened west system mixture, pushed in in past the hole about 1/8 inch, let it cure, filled level with marine tex,let that cure, glassed over for final, paint.
I thought this was better than wood dowell. I was going to plug with fiberglass dowell from old solid fishing rod, but the drywall anchor has those fins that really grip a good fit into the foam.
I thought it was a good idea for plugging that type hole. Its not wood so it wont expand, and the marine tex can be pushed into the screw hole to create a really solid hold that should not pop out.
