I noticed a 2" gash in the bottom of my 13' sport incurred by my trailer. I spoke to the guy who painted it last year looking for some touch up paint. He handed me some Marine-tex and said that it should work. My question is: Do I need to prime and paint the marine-tex or can I just sand it down and feather it in and leave it?

you dont have to. Some say its still pourus and subject to water absorbsion but you will never get me to by into that.

I would put a coat of paint on it simply to give you a smooth surface. This wont pick up bottom grunge and surface debris and will protect the repair.

You should paint the marine tex. It is an epoxy, which will break down when exposed to UV.
