I am repairing some outboard wiring and ran across a connector set that is very cool.
It a normal nylon (see thru) "snap-plug" or “bullet connector” where the insulator seals the wire on the back end of the plug. The insulator on the head of the female plug fits over the mail a seal it to is’ mate (most brands do this).
I have seen a lot of this type of connector but never one where water can't get in from the backside. It does look like it would be harder to crimp these because you would have to thread the bare wire thru the insulation.
OK, I found these in my 9-pin Mercury control cable extension. This cable has the Merc 9-pin connector and four extra wires that use these cool splash proof connectors. Other then getting the connectors from Merc has anyone ever seen these for sale in bulk?

I am sure there must be an electronic OEM for those, but the problem these days is the huge number of suppliers of things like that. Look for a name molded into the connector somewhere; you might have to use a low-power magnifier to see it.
There are so many vendors and so many parts made these days, it is getting very hard to source them. I have switch maker's catalog that is over 700-pages of little electronic switches--just one company!
