Saw neat installation of vertical support braced into aft wall of bow locker. Seat support set into this bracket. Was this an older option for Montauk? Still around? Was I seeing things?

Howdy, Cajun.

I think that seat originally appeared on the 13 and 16 Bass Boats in the '70s.

It must have been an option thereafter (standard on Stripers) because there are quite a few Montauks, 13s, and 15s around that have them.

I have one on my Montauk and had one in my last 13. I Have another now that is waiting for my next 13.

cajunwhaler,
The unit you are looking for is called a Hi-Rise Chair Mount and they are still manufactured by Pick Instrument Company.. 102 Eastway, Galena Park, TX. 77547
I believe this is the Chair Mount only and not the Whaler Seat. The seat is hard to come by new. I got mine 13 years ago from a dealer who had the seat setting on his shelf with a lot of dust on it.
There is another thread on this forum somewhere about the Hi-Rise Chair Mount.

I removed a pedestal seat that came on my 79 Montauk that I bought in 95.
I have no idea if it was original. I tend
to doubt it.
The bracket at the bottom of the pedestal fits flush against that wall and was attached with four bolts went through the wall with nuts and washers inside the locker.

I actually still have the pedestal (there is no seat that bolts on top; it was completely trashed).
It is just laying around my garage.
I would be willing to trade the pedestal for a late model whaler :) or maybe I will just give it away for someone that is really going to use it.

FYI - I found someone to take the pedestal mount. So, in case you are wondering, I don't have it anymore.

I've gotten pedestal, seat frame, bracket. Installing bracket looks ok. Looked at threads in forum on drilling thru gel coat, etc.

Pedestal is secured by tightening bolt on plastic sleeve that pedestal fits snuggly in. Is that used to prevent seat/pedestal from slipping down? All well built but wondering if pedestal is made to turn while not slipping further down into bracket when being used (sat on)?

Any suggestions or cautions would be appreciated. No rush. Also, looking at folding seats. Number look like they will work. Any thoughts on that also appreciated.

Anyone know where I can find that plastic sleeve...I have not had my seat in years because of the missing sleeve.

Cajun, my pedestal has a stop on it to prevent it from sliding down. You should tighten the clamp all the way, though. The seat itself will swivel on top of the pedestal (you mount a seat swivel to the pedestal then the seat to the swivel; the whole pedestal is not supposed to swivel).

Howdy CajunWhaler.

Pick Instrument Products ought to have some sleeves.(Search OEMs)

The last mount I bought from them came with a couple of spares.

Euraka!! Much clearer. I have a lock washer and nut that came fitted between seat and pedestal - therefore no swivel. Obviously, it don't go dere, cher. Saw two holes for a stop lower down pedestal. Can make pin for that. Does sleeve go into top of pedestal and seat fits into that or does it just ride on top of pedestal? Seems like that is a might loose, without nut. Mine came with sleeve in bracket with pedestal fitting in that. Maybe just shipped that way? I know, I shouldn't assume.

Good leads. Thanks for your help. Specs, reds, drum and flounder running great. Hope to see some of you out of Port Sulphur, LA some day.
