I am repowering my 1988 20' Outrage and was wondering if the following motor seems like a good deal?

It is a 1991 Yamaha 150 with 260 hours. All gauges, SS Prop, new TNT and shift shaft. I can have it installed for $4,000 with a 30 day warranty....

Does this sound inline?

Thank you, Ed

New shift shaft makes it much more attractive, especially since this was the "Achilles heal" of those pre-mid 90's Yamaha's.

I'm sure you've done the usual, compression check etc. etc.

With rigging and 30 day warranty, I would say go for it.

Oh yeah, check out the DETAILS on the warranty. Sometimes "warranty" is a very vague term.

How do you know it is only 260 hours? If it is really mint, that is a decent price installed.

The guy/mechanic has the hour meter. He bought the motor (2 actually, the other is CR) from head mechanic/friend at a local marina.

The motor is not "mint", but looks to be "decent". It has a couple of scratches on the hood, etc.

The guy is also going to relocate the battery and oil resevior to the center console....

Now only if he can have it done before the 4th !!
