hi,

i'm repowering 67 sakonnet with '94 suzuki dt90. i plan to use a morse mt-3 binnacle control. the engine has tilt and trim. what would be the best way to install the tilt and trim control? should it be in the dash of the console? what problems will i encounter by using the morse control and not a suzuki control? thanks in advance for your responses.

You need to call Charman Ent. at (800) 247-6324, also visit charment.com for blow-up drawings of the controls. I talked to a lady there who knew everything about these controls and helped a great deal. I have a '79 Newport with a '79 90HP merc, that had the old merc push button controls for the TT. I replaced all my wiring and dash and replaced one of the switches on my new switch panel with a switch that pushes up and down for the TT and it works great.

If you are interested in just the wiring harness, tach & idiot guage, call marine surplus at 941-758-3552. I got all my stuff including controls for under $400 BRAND NEW.

The trim switch in my Merc control broke last year so I just installed a momentary on/off/momentary on toggle on the dash. It works fine but is a bit of a pain to use. Hard to beat the switch in the control handle.
