In my 13' bw there is a tie town hook in the bow locker that looks pretty factory. It is riveted to the hul in two spots. I was thinking, because of the motor vibrating the wood maybe it was for a bungee to hold down the locker. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch, Tim.

I also have one in my '66 whaler, and haven't a clue what it's for. The bungee
sounds possible, or maybe to tie a "string"
of fish to.

We have the same thing in our 11' and have a similar clip on the inside of the hatch cover. We use a small bungee (the smallest one I've found commercially available) to keep the cover secure and eliminate some of the vibration. And, you can still lift the hatch from one side with bungee attached. Don't know if that was the original intent, but it sure works for me.

The original set up did indeed used a bungee cord. The pad eye on the underside of the hatch straddled the bungee cord and the two ends both hooked the pad eye riveted to the bottom of the locker.
To remove or replace the bungee cord you needed to unscrew the pad eye from the hatch.
I always though this was a marginal set up at best. It's hard to attach a bungee that's short enough to actually hold the hatch down. Hinges and a latch work much better when things get rough.

Not great in big chop but does keep it from hitting you in the face. I bought the bungee pack at like walmart. Has 3 or so mini bungees that work great. Put a real purdy red one in there.
